Laura Moniuszko
Assistant Director

Meet our new Assistant Director - Laura Moniuszko! Also fondly known as Ms. Cat Boyardee.
Origins: Born into the Moniuszko family where music echoed in every corner, Laura's father handed her the drumsticks, initiating her percussion journey with the Moniuszko Family Band. And while she candidly admits they weren't the best band out there, the passion was undeniably there!
Musical Journey: Laura's musical explorations began with the piano and voice, but her heart found its rhythm in the ninth grade with the marimba. By senior year, two pivotal pieces of advice led her destiny: the pursuit of teaching music and the pride of being a HOKIE. Embracing both, Laura achieved her B.A. in Percussion Performance & Music Education, followed by an M.A.Ed in Curriculum and Instruction from Virginia Tech.
Current Engagements: Virginia remains Laura's cherished home with familial connections spread across. She's currently embracing life in the vibrant DMV area, taking on the renowned D.C. traffic with grace. Many already admire her as the accomplished Director of Percussion at Flint Hill Schools. And now, we are privileged to have her expertise and energy with the Vienna Jammers as our Assistant Director!
Not Just Beats and Rhythms: Laura's musical contributions extend beyond the classroom. She can be found in orchestra pits throughout the DMV area, creating captivating music under the pseudonym "lemon", and stands as a foundational member of the percussion quintet, 'Five In A Box Percussion'.
Personal Notes: If you've ever wondered about the origins of her nickname or have a fondness for feline tales, Laura has two charming cats, Obi Wan and Miso, that play a small part in the story.
