PRIVACY

Privacy Policy

We respect your family’s privacy. Here is what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

About this policy

Effective date: October 12, 2026

Who we are

The Vienna Jammers Percussion Ensemble (“Vienna Jammers”, “we”, “us”) is a nonprofit youth percussion organization in Vienna, Virginia. This policy explains what information we collect through viennajammers.org, our newsletter, donations and our text messages, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Our website

Our website is hosted by Wix. Like most websites, it uses cookies and similar tools to make the site work and to count visits. Wix’s own privacy policy explains how it handles that data. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work without them.

The contact form

When you send us a message through the contact form, we receive the details you enter, such as your name and email address, and your message. We use them only to reply to you.

Our newsletter

If you sign up for our newsletter, we keep your email address in Mailchimp, our email service, and use it to send you news about camps, programs and performances. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.

Donations, purchases and other services

Donations and purchases

Donations and store orders on our website are processed by our payment providers (Wix, Stripe or PayPal). We receive your name, contact details, the amount and any note you add, but we do not see or store your full card number. We use these details to process and thank you for your gift or order, and to keep the records a nonprofit is required to keep.

Services we link to

Some things open on other services, each with its own privacy policy: Mini-Camp registration on Eventbrite, our print shop on Spreadshirt, and our videos on Vimeo and YouTube.

Children’s privacy

Our programs are for children, but our website is for their parents and guardians. We do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, email us and we will delete it.

Text messages (SMS)

What we collect

When you opt in to our text messages, we collect your name and mobile phone number. We may also keep a record of your STOP or HELP requests, so we can honor your choices.

How we use it

Our text message (SMS) program, sent through Twilio, is only for Jammers staff who sign up to get a text alert on their phone when their viennajammers.org email receives a new message. We use your mobile number only to send those alerts.

This program does not send messages to families. Family communications, such as schedules, weather alerts and announcements, are sent through Remind, a separate service with its own privacy policy.

No sharing of mobile data

Vienna Jammers will not share, rent or sell your mobile phone number or SMS opt-in consent data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Your data is used only for our own communication about our programs.

Your information and your choices

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the service providers named above, so they can do their work for us, or when the law requires it.

Keeping it safe

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access. Only authorized staff involved in running our programs can see it.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time, reply STOP to any text message, or email us to ask what information we hold about you, or to have it corrected or deleted.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will post changes on this page with a new effective date, and we will tell text subscribers about significant changes to how we handle SMS data.
